Our goal is for our Junior Preschoolers to become competent
and eager learners. Our two-year-old Frogstreet curriculum provides a rich
learning environment that expands vocabulary and broadens self-regulation
skills. We use emergent learning to support growing independence. We provide a
unique balance of classroom support materials, Bible stories, family connection components,
and easy-to-understand strategies so that our teachers can put it all together
and create an exciting and enriching Christian learning environment needed for
children to flourish.
Our emergent learning approach is focused on each Junior
Preschooler’s unique needs and interests. Using comprehensive learning
objectives, we deliver daily activities that have a main topic — but are
purposefully guided to meet an individualized goal for each child. To guide our
teaching and adapt to each child’s interest and existing knowledge, we also
gather background information and child input on a topic we are set to study.
This allows for individualized instruction, and an interest driven, integrated learning
experience for each child.
Social skills are equally as important to success in life as academic skills. When children are respectful, kind, polite and honest — they develop character. Moreover, teaching children what behavior to model and what is expected of them is a daily process.
Assessments and parent conferences for Junior Preschoolers
are conducted twice a year – enabling parents and teachers to have a balanced
look at each child's abilities and potential areas of improvement. To focus on children's specific needs and skills, we allow for individualized instruction and
various activities as part of our curriculum.
The curriculum for our Preschool class is a holistic,
child-centered and teacher-directed program that nurtures each child by
offering focused, meaningful instruction in a Christian environment that’s
developmentally appropriate. This classroom provides opportunities for
three-year-old's to develop independence, self-discipline and peer cooperation
through directed and free play, and incorporates Bible stories, literature, phonics, pre-math,
science, art and music.
Our Frogstreet Preschool curriculum provides a wealth of
materials to foster the social, emotional, intellectual and physical
development of children. Children learn best by connecting what they know with
what they learn. Essential questions in the different curriculum units connect
children to new ideas and understanding. Easy-to- use lessons link essential
disciplines to make instruction more relevant and help children recognize
patterns in learning. Social-emotional development is addressed every day
through positive reinforcement, interactive activities, and engaging songs to
help model and build interpersonal skills. Among the programs and lessons, we
offer this age group are:

We also have a multi-purpose room where three-year-old's can
develop fine and gross-motor skills. It provides an array of activities and
toys for the children to enjoy. It’s also an alternative environment for play –
as preschoolers can bring their outside time indoors if the weather is not
permitting.
